3 Nephi 9

3 Nephi 9:2

" Wo, wo, wo unto this people; wo unto the inhabitants of the whole earth except they shall repent; for the devil laugheth, and his angels rejoice, because of the slain of the fair sons and daughters of my people; and it is because of their iniquity and abominations that they are fallen!"

Christ has been slain and His voice calms those in the Americas.  Much destruction befell the lands and in this verse Christ describes why. The devil swayed people to follow him and he did not care at all when they were destroyed. The Lord cares so much about His "fair sons and daughters" yet the "devil laugheth, and his angels rejoice".  Why would anyone follow the devil who rejoices in downfall?
